Beginnings |
I am drawn to sparkling, glittering phenomena. Phenomena like the faraway twinkling stars we can see when we look up into the night sky. Or more earthy phenomena, like the gleaming little rainbows in the dawn sunlight reflecting off of dew-covered grass. I find the shining eyes of a cat in the dark, or the glow of the moon on a cold night mesmerizing, and full of beauty and mystery.
As a child I collected, and hoarded, my own trove of sparkling treasures - beads, rhinestones, marbles, bits of glass and metal. Grandma's castoffs and broken jewelry provided hours of play as I sat on my bed and lovingly took apart and reassembled discards that became my riches. I would spend hours rearranging and reveling in the beauty of these gems.
